Teemo has always been a great champion to solo-carry in League of Legends. He isn’t dependent on team composition or ganks.
Instead, he is extremely good at bullying opponents in the top lane, taking turrets, and split-pushing to victory. And the Lich Bane build for Teemo plays to those strengths too!
Does Lich Bane work with Teemo? And is Lich Bane a good item to build on Teemo?
Lich Bane is a great item to build on Teemo. It almost doubles the amount of damage he does with his basic attacks, which is a huge part of Teemo’s playstyle.
And unless you’re only going to deal damage with his mushrooms, Lich Bane is a recommended item on Teemo.
Why do I mean by this?
Well, Teemo deals a great amount of damage nonetheless. And even though Lich Bane increases his damage overall, it’s not a must-have item in all games.
That’s mainly because Teemo has two different playstyles.
First, Teemo can play as a strategist by setting up his R – Noxious Trap all over the map. This way, he can build items that give him pure AP and damage-over-time effects.
All of his damage will come from his mushrooms, and he won’t even need to get close to his enemies.
However, the second playstyle for Teemo is to be a ranged AP marksman that deals one-shots with Q + Lich Bane auto-attack!
This playstyle allows him to do more consistent damage and to take down turrets in a few seconds.
I’d definitely recommend you the second Teemo playstyle for solo queue, simply because it’s more efficient.
You can’t always expect your enemies to step on your mushrooms (they can get the sweeping trinket, too), so it’s good to be prepared for everything.

Lich Bane Teemo – Runes
Here are my recommended runes for playing Teemo with Lich Bane:
- Dark Harvest – is an absolutely broken rune in League of Legends that allows Teemo (or any champion) to one shot enemies below 50% HP. Dark Harvest stacks with souls, so the more stacks you have, the deadlier you’ll be.
- Cheap Shot – increases your damage done on crowd-controlled targets, which counts the slow from your mushrooms too.
- Ghost Poro – helps you establish more vision in the early game, plus it increases your AP as a reward.
- Ultimate Hunter – lowers the cooldown of your Noxious Trap, so you can spread your mushrooms more efficiently.
- Transcendence – grants you 10 Ability Haste and resets the remaining 20% of your abilities’ cooldown in a fight.
- Gathering Storm – passively adds Ability Power every 10 minutes, so it’s always good to have.
As you can see, this is a very offensive, burst-damage-focused rune page for Teemo.
I’ve used it in many games, and it’s simply fantastic for surprising and overwhelming your opponents with damage.
But since all matches are different, you’ll sometimes need to consider other runes too.
Optional Runes
Here are great examples of optional runes for Teemo:
- Arcane Comet – is an excellent keystone in the early game for bullying opponents.
- Grasp of the Undying – makes you tanky and is great for dealing with aggressive laners.
- Press the Attack – does amazing damage and synergizes with Lich Bane.
- Scorch – is additional burst damage on 20 seconds cooldown.
- Ravenous Hunter – increases your self-healing, and it procs when enemies step on your mushrooms from across the map.

Lich Bane Teemo – Items
And here is the complete item build for playing Teemo Lich Bane playstyle:
- Liandry’s Anguish – is a key item in every Teemo’s build. It grants all necessary stats and applies burn effect to all enemies that Teemo damages. It also procs from Noxious Trap, allowing Teemo to deal insane amounts of damage throughout the game.
- Lich Bane – is your best tool for one shotting the enemies and quickly taking down turrets.
- Nashor’s Tooth – synergizes with Lich Bane and Teemo’s E. It grants a 50% Attack Speed and boosts the damage of Teemo’s basic attacks.
- Morellonomicon – is another essential item because it applies the Grevious Wounds effect. It’ll be much easier to score kills with it because your enemies won’t be able to heal up.
- Rabadon’s Deathcap – is the best damage booster for any AP champion, including Teemo. It increases all his AP by 35%, so it should be purchased in the late game.
- Sorcerer’s Shoes – are the best boots for Teemo because they grant bonus Magic Penetration.
Optional Items
Even though you can use the same item build here in every game, you’ll sometimes be better changing a thing or two.
Here are a few great situational items you can purchase on Teemo as well:
- Luden’s Tempest – gives you more burst damage than Liandry’s Anguish.
- Demonic Embrace – works especially well against tanks because it burns them based on their maximum HP.
- Void Staff – grants all the Magic Penetration you need.
- Rylai’s Crystal Scepter – applies an additional slow effect through your abilities.
- Zhonya’s Hourglass – gives you Armor and allows you to dodge damage.

Summoner Spells and Ability Order
Teemo is usually played with Flash + Teleport. But you can sometimes switch Teleport for Ignite, Exhaust, or even Cleanse, especially if you are playing Teemo in the mid lane.
And the best ability order for Teemo is:
E > Q > W > R
Lich Bane Teemo – Tips
Well, Lich Bane takes 50% of your Ability Power, plus a bit of your AD. On the other hand, Teemo’s Q does 260 magic damage, plus 80% of his total Ability Power.
So if Teemo has 155 AP (this includes only having Liandry’s Anguish and Lich Bane), he would deal around 500+ magic damage in total with his Q + Lich Bane auto-attack.
Of course, this is only the mid game, and the damage from Dark Harvest isn’t included. So you can imagine the one shot potential of this build yourself!
And lastly, how do you take advantage of this build?
Split push!
Seriously, I’d advise you to always split push rather than group with your teammates. The enemy turrets will fall in seconds with Lich Bane, Nashor’s Tooth, and Rabadon’s Deathcap.
This will elevate the pressure from your teammates and pull your opponents toward you. And with enough practice, you can close the games so much quicker!
