Lich Bane Evelynn – One-Shot Build! (Full Guide 2023)

Evelynn is an assassin like no one else. Not only is she the only champion in League of Legends with permanent invisibility, but she is also one of the few picks that can one shot the enemy before they can even react. Building Evelynn is often easy, simply because you always take the same raw AP items. However, Lich Bane also works incredibly well on Evelynn, and here’s why!

Lich Bane works with Evelynn’s E, Whiplash. Whiplash (and Empowered Whiplash) automatically applies all on-hit effects. So any time you use Evelynn’s E, you’ll also deal the bonus damage from Lich Bane. This happens instantly and within the same cast.

Generally, all AP champions that have an auto-attack enhancer work well with Lich Bane. But Evelynn takes this a step further, simply because her Whiplash dashes instantly deals the full damage, including Lich Bane. 

For example, if you look at Sylas, you’ll see that he needs to use an ability first, then strike the target with a Lich Bane basic attack. But Evelynn doesn’t need to change anything in her playstyle. Lich Bane empowers her on-hit damage through her E, so she always takes full advantage of the item.

Many players prefer to not build Lich Bane on Evelynn because they want raw AP. True, this increases the damage of all Evelynn’s abilities. But the fact is that Lich Bane gives Evelynn a bigger burst than any regular AP item.

So if you like that one shot playstyle for Evelynn, I’d definitely suggest you try this build in your games.

Lich Bane Evelynn – Runes

Here are my recommended runes for the Lich Bane Evelynn playstyle:

• Electrocute – is the best keystone for dealing burst damage and one shotting enemies. It procs with all of Evelynn’s combo, so it’s always good to have. 
• Sudden Impact – grants you Magic Penetration each time you exit stealth, dash with your E, or blink with your ultimate. It only has 4 seconds cooldown, so Evelynn can use it all the time.
• Eyeball Collection – is a simple effect that increases your Ability Power as you farm jungle monsters.
• Relentless Hunter – increases your Movement Speed out of combat, allowing you to quickly move around the map and get more kills overall.

• Absolute Focus – gives you an unfair advantage because it boosts your damage when you’re above 70% HP. And since Evelynn always strikes first because of her invisibility, Absolute Focus is always helpful. 
• Gathering Storm – is a great way to get more AP in the late game, even if you aren’t winning. It adds Ability Power every 10 minutes for free.

Optional Runes

Here are all the optional runes you can take on Evelynn:

• Cheap Shot – increases the damage you do to charmed enemies.
• Transcendence – lowers the cooldown of your abilities. 
• Dark Harvest – is great for one shotting in the late game, but it depends on stacks.
• Magical Footwear – is just a way to get free boots.
• Cosmic Insight – lowers the cooldown of your Summoner Spells, including Smite.

Lich Bane Evelynn – Items

And here is the complete item build for playing Evelynn with Lich Bane:

• Night Harvester – gives you the highest burst potential out of all mythic items. The first time you strike an enemy champion, it deals extra magic damage, and this effect has only 40 seconds cooldown. 
• Lich Bane – allows you to one shot your enemy without even changing your playstyle.
• Void Staff – grants you all the Magic Penetration you need for slaying nearly everyone in the game, including tanks.
• Rabadon’s Deathcap – almost doubles your Ability Power and increases your overall damage significantly.
• Zhonya’s Hourglass – is the best defensive tool for Evelynn because you can use it in so many different ways. Plus, it adds Armor!
• Ionian Boots of Lucidity – give you a 20 Ability Haste for only 950 gold, which is by far the best deal in League of Legends.

Optional Items

Here are all the situational items you can purchase on Evelynn:

• Hextech Rocketbelt – can be a good replacement to Night Harvester, and it offers an interesting playstyle. 
• Mejai’s Soulstealer – should always be purchased if you’re playing the early game well.
• Banshee’s Veil – shields you against incoming damage and crowd control abilities.
• Morellonomicon – lowers the healing potential of your enemy so you can assassinate them.

Summoner Spells and Ability Order

As a jungler, Evelynn doesn’t have much choice when it comes to Summoner Spells. Her best combo is Flash + Smite. 

And the best ability order for Evelynn is:

Q > E > W > R

Playing Evelynn with Lich Bane – Explained

If you still aren’t sure how Lich Bane fits Evelynn’s playstyle, let me explain a few more things.

I mentioned above that the effect of Lich Bane procs with Evelynn’s E, so you don’t need to deal an additional auto-attack. However, I didn’t tell you that you should always build Night Harvester first and Lich Bane second. Why is this important? 

Well, Night Harvester is a Mythic item, and its stats are much better than any other Legendary item, including Lich Bane. It grants 75 Ability Power, 15 Ability Haste, and 300 Health, while Lich Bane only 75 Ability Power and 8% Movement Speed.

However, both of these items have bonus damage effects that scale with AP. So, how much damage can Evelynn deal with Night Harvester, Lich Bane, and her E?

1. Night Harvester 125 bonus damage and scales with 15% of your AP.
2. Lich Bane scales with 75% of your base AD and 50% of your AP.
3. And Evelynn’s E does a maximum of 175 damage, plus a bit of damage based on the target’s maximum HP.

So if we combine everything together, we have:

Evelynn with Dark Harvester and Lich Bane deals around 600 bonus magic damage in the mid game. Of course, with more Ability Power, this number will go higher. And with Void Staff included, you’ll be able to one shot any champion in the game.

Conclusion

Playing Evelynn with Lich Bane is an absolute blast! I love that I don’t have to do anything special besides doing the regular Evelynn rotation. It goes mark into Q, into charm, into E – and the target’s dead. You can always use your ultimate if the enemy is tanky.
