Evelynn is one of the scariest assassins you can face in League of Legends. I can’t remember too many games of me facing an Evelynn player that wasn’t at least Godlike.

And I’m in Master elo myself.

Evelynn is obviously a fantastic champion for solo queue, and she always manages to deal unbelievable amounts of damage.

But is Evelynn an AP or AD champion?

Is Evelynn AP or AD?

Evelynn AP or AD - early game damage

Evelynn is an AP jungler that only scales with AP and deals magic damage.

Most players go for a full AP build on Evelynn, but some like to purchase on-hit AP items too. Evelynn should only be played as AP because she’s very weak as AD.

If you’re a veteran League of Legends player, you might remember Evelynn being a viable AD champion.

In the past, Evelynn’s kit worked differently than now, and you could play her with items such as Infinity Edge or The Bloodthirster.

However, Riot Games have reworked Evelynn, and nowadays, she’s only viable as an AP champion.

Her recommended items are Night Harvester, Lich Bane, Void Staff, and Rabadon’s Deathcap.

Evelynn’s AP ratios

Q – Hate Spike

Evelynn AP or AD - AP jungle clear

Evelynn’s first cast of her Q (the spear) deals 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 (+ 30% AP) magic damage.

The next three basic attacks or abilities Evelynn casts deal 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+ 25% AP) bonus magic damage.

Evelynn’s spikes after the spear deal 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 (+ 30% AP) magic damage each.

W – Allure

If Evelynn charms a monster with her W, she’ll also deal 250 / 300 / 350 / 400 / 450 (+ 60% AP) to it.

When Evelynn charms a champion, she only reduces their Magic Resist by 25 / 27.5 / 30 / 32.5 / 35%.

The charm duration of Evelynn’s W is 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 seconds.

E – Whiplash

Evelynn’s Whiplash deals 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 (+ 3% (+ 1.5% per 100 AP) of target’s maximum health) magic damage, but it also applies on-hit effects such as Lich Bane.

Empowered Whiplash deals 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 / 175 (+ 4% (+ 2.5% per 100 AP) of target’s maximum health) magic damage instead.

R – Last Caress

Evelynn’s ultimate deals 125 / 250 / 375 (+ 75% AP) magic damage but if the target is below 30% HP, this ability deals 140% increased damage.

Conclusion

As you can see, the only viable way to play Evelynn now is with a full AP build.

And even though I like Eve’s playstyle, I must say that it’s a shame that we can’t play her AD anymore. She used to be a hybrid champ, much like Ezreal or Akali.

The crit Evelynn build is still one of the most experiences I’ve ever had in League, and I’m sad that it’s gone.

That said, I hope I helped you figure out whether Evelynn is worth playing AD or just AP!
